Humpback Whales south of Victoria! Oct 18th, 2012

Well today’s weather was less than perfect for whale watching! However, despite the rain we still had a wonderful encounter with 5 Humpback Whales:)

We had a fun group of people today that were determined not to let the rain spoil their enjoyment of being out in the Salish Sea. With our large heated cabin area our passengers were mainly able to stay out of the rain, except for a few hearty souls that donned our cruiser jackets and road on our spacious top deck or bow. The rest of us stayed dry inside until we got on scene with the Humpback Whales & other wildlife at Race Rocks:)

During our tour we encountered two groups of 2 Humpback Whales that were traveling close together and we think we saw possibly one more. We got some very nice passes and wonderful tail fluke shots. One Humpback also brought up one of its large pectoral fins out of the water!
Our passengers also loved visiting Race Rocks to see the countless Seals & Sea Lions hanging out on the rocks and in the water.

I always tell people that the rain does not affect the chances of seeing whales, they are already wet, and today was a perfect example of that:)
