Transient Orcas! June 20th, 2013

Despite less than ideal weather conditions, we ventured north this afternoon and had a wonderful encounter with Transient Orcas (the TO65's) in Fulford Harbour:) We tell people all the time that the Whales don't care about the rain and today proved that to be an accurate statement once again!

L-pod off Victoria! June 17th, 2013

This morning we received a call that Resident Orca's had been spotted west of Victoria and heading our way:) When we arrived on scene we could see all of L-pod spread out across the Victoria waterfront and heading East towards Trial Island. We witnessed many tail slaps, breaching, pectoral waves, pectoral slaps as the Resident Orcas made their way past Victoria. Then as they got near Trial Island most of L-pod began to Porpoise (high speed swimming) and at one stage we had well over 10 Orcas porpoising in perfect unison, an incredibly dramatic sight! By the afternoon the Resident Orcas had reached San Juan Island and they seemed to be very happy to be home:)
