Oct 31. What a perfect end to the season!

Here are just a few pictures to wet the appetite from todays 2.00pm trip on Fastcat and what a trip it was. We had five Humpback Whales, including two mother and calf pairings. Then our skipper Trev, spotted blows in the distance that turned out to be members of all three of the southern resident Orca Pods J, K & L pod. It was the perfect end to a fantastic whale watching season. Enjoy these first few pictures, I will be uploading some more shortly.

Passenger Photos from Oct 21st

These picture were taken by one of our passengers, Tim Campbell, during our 2pm tour on Saturday Oct 21st (great pictures Tim and glad you enjoyed the tour). During this trip we had both Transient Orcas and Humpback Whales just off the coast of Victoria and our passengers were treated to some spectacular Whale behavior! With clear blue skies and calm waters it was a beautiful day to be on the water!

JPod October 16

What an incredible trip we had today with JPod spread out between Sidney Island (off the East coast of Southern Vancouver Island) and Andrews Bay on the west coast of the San Juan Islands. Many of the Orcas were actively feeding and being very social with a number of spyhops and breaches observed by our passengers. We were even fortunate to see the rare sight of a Minke Whale near Sidney Island! Minke Whales are not often seen this far North in Haro Strait and are usually sighted near the southern entrance to Haro Strait and in the Juan De Fuca Strait. With the amazing weather and the spectacular wildlife, this turned out to be an awesome trip for the passengers and crew aboard Fastcat.

Enjoy the photos and please remember all pictures are zoomed in.

More Photos from October 14

We had the chance to see both JPod and Humpback Whales during our 2pm tour today. JPod was south of the San Juan Islands and very spread out. The Humpbacks were in two groups of 2 (a mother and calf plus two adolescents) and were in the middle of the Juan De Fuca Strait.

Please enjoy these photos and remember all are taken with a powerful camera on full zoom.

Fantastic October Continues!

Over the last few weeks we have experienced a period of marine wildlife watching of a breadth and variety unmatched in previous Octobers.
We are so fortunate to live in a city as beautiful as Victoria, and even more so to have the chance to see these amazing creatures.

Sunday October 8 - PM Trip

Our afternoon trip found the FastCat on the west side of San Juan Island with J pod between False Bay and Eagle point. We travelled with different sub-units of J pod as they travelled towards the park. In addition, we had bow riding Dall's porpoises and a Steller sea lion in the Chain Islets in the Oak Bay area with Harbour seals. Enjoy the images and the top photo is of J1 - Ruffles!

Note: Please remember the photos are zoomed in.
