Today we had to drive almost as far north as Active Pass to encounter a very playful and large (18 Orcas) Transient Orcas near Mouat Pt. Although it took us a while to get on scene the wait was well worth it as the Orcas were in a very and unusually (for Transients) playful mood with lots of tail slaps, spy hops, tail flukes and even breaching observed, it was an amazing encounter! On our way to the Orcas we also encountered several Steller Sea Lions and two Bald Eagles at Kelp Reef.
