It was flat calm today, rainy however a lovely mist / fog painted the landscape. Jpod seemed quite spread out when we arrived, stretching from inshore to quite a ways out. Saw lots of J1 and managed to see his markings nicely today due to the lighting. Saw speed porpoising, milling, spy hopping, a belly roll and a few pec slaps in the distance.

Hi everyone. I am gone to see the Northern Resident Killer Whales as of Sunday but will be back next weekend to resume trips on the 5 Star and feed more into the blog. Have a wonderful time out there and see you all soon!

J Pod was so unexciting when we saw them a week or so ago. They weren't breaching or showing off at all. They'd surface for air, and then just keep moving. Barely high enough in the water to even see any of their white. Maybe their bellies were full of salmon. I did get a hundred or so photos (lots of Ruffles) but most of them are just dorsal fins. Oh well, it made my fiancee happy.

Thanks for commenting mrclm! Sounds like you saw them traveling, milling around. They can seem quite boring when just doing that. Be rest assured though they can expose a bit of behavior. It's taken me 3 years just to see what that is all about. I blog this so that others can enjoy what they've missed.
