This morning we found J and L pods spread apart, fishing at Salmon Bank. Saw some really interesting behavior. One orca was speed porpoising through the wake of a boat, however not with the boat, but riding the run away wake but none the less very cool. Saw several small groupings of 3-5 animals and in one set was approx 2-3 large males which I assume was Lpod, someone stuck their head out to take a peek. An interesting pass of two females and one calf, who was sticking it's nose out of the water with mouth open (see photo above). Lots of high persuit hunting behavior, and multiple breaches from several of the smaller orcas. No word on K pod's whereabouts.

Ps. On our way out this morning, we heard from someone at Prince of Whales that some of the large Lpod males were wake riding the bow of a huge container ship in the Georgia Strait last night, apparently what an incredible spectacle it was.

Mike Grace of Great Pacific Adventures got some excellent breach shots today, be sure to check them out!
