THURSDAY, APRIL 23, 2009, TRANSIENT KILLER WHALES T-10's
In Northern Haro Strait, between Mandarte Island and Moresby Island, Five Star Whale Watching's passengers were fortunate to find 3 Transient (Marine-Mammal-Eating) Killer Whales. The T-10's consist of mother T-10, son T-10B and daughter T-10C.
The male, T-10B, is obvious by his straight, tall 2m (6 foot) Dorsal Fin. In contrast, females, no matter how long they live, retain the crescent-shaped fin common to most Dolphins. Note the significant "notch" on the trailing edge of T-10's Dorsal Fin.
