Transient Orcas near Swartz Bat! May 14th, 2013
Here are a few images from today's encounter with Transient Orcas near Swartz Bay! The Transient Orcas were identified as the TO49's and TO65's and have been frequenting this area a lot this spring as they search for their favorite prey item, Harbor Seals. The Transient Orcas now seem to be keeping the rising Harbor Seal population in check and it looks like their numbers have plateaued. This has lead to increasing numbers and frequency of Transient Orcas sighted in the Salish Sea!
