Exciting evening with L-pod! June 10th, 2011
Here are just a few images from this evenings exciting evening with L-pod! We headed out of the harbour this evening knowing that L-pod was moving swiftly away from us and that there was a chance we might not be able to catch up with them. However, our determined crew managed to catch up with Orcas West of Becher Bay and as we got on scene we could see the Orcas were spread out across the Strait. Despite a Flood Tide the Orcas were traveling at 10 knots against the tide and we witnessed several Orcas porpoising and surfacing the waves. We also saw a lot of foraging for Salmon, nice to know there is food out their for the Orcas:)
On our way home we stopped at Race Rocks and showed our passengers Sealions, Harbor Seals and even an Northern Elephant Seal. A stunning Pacific Coast sunset was the finale to a wonderful evening:)
