Here are a few images from our afternoon encounter with Resident Orcas, (J-pod), near San Juan Island.
We often tell our passengers that it does not matter what we saw during the previous trip as the Marine Life is constantly on the move and today's trips were proof of that. In the morning we had L-pod and 3 Humpback Whales out west. However, by the time our afternoon tour departed members of J-pod had returned to the area so we headed out east near San Juan Island to see them. Orcas can travel up to 100mile in a 24 hour period!
As we arrived on scene we could immediately identify the "Cookie Crew" of J22 "Oreo", J34 "Double Stuf" and J38 "Cookie. We also saw J16 "Slick" and her family that includes J26 "Mike, J36 "Alki" and Slick's young calf, J42 "Echo" who was born in 2007.
It was another wonderful day on the water:)
