Humpback Whales Sept 18th 2007.

There were a number of Humpback Whales sighted in the Juan De Fuca Strait today and more and more Humpbacks will be sighted in our area over the next month as these impressive Baleen Whales make a pit stop on their way south from Alaska.

We caught up with one Humpback today just near the Victor Foxtrot Buoy in the Juan De Fuca Strait. This particular animal was doing very few deep dives and in fact we only saw one whilst we were on scene. The majority of the time the Whale was surfacing every minute and spending a lot of time on the surface, great for viewing these massive marine mammals.

Whilst we were on the water we also saw a number of Harbor Porpoises and Stellar Sealions swimming in the middle of the Juan De Fuca Strait. We also saw one of the US Navy's large aircraft carriers cruising through the Strait.

We ended our trip at Race Rocks watching the abundance of Marine Mammals and Birds that frequent this ecological reserve.
