On our way back to Victoria we encountered several Dalls Porpoise.

The four pictures above are of J26 "Mike", who was seen swimming with his Mother J16 "Slick" and new sister J42.

Today we had an incredible encounter with Jpod and in particular J16 "Slick", J26 "Mike" and the 3 month old calf J42! We headed out in the afternoon and caught up with a foraging Jpod near Hanna Heights. Not long after we arrived we sighted Ruffles and then J16 "Slick" with her Son "Mike" and new calf J42. The new Calf seems to be doing well and was swimming happily alongside her mother. We also saw a lot of activity above the water that indicated extensive fishing was taking place. Jpod was spread out over a 2-3 mile area along the coast of San Juan Island.

On our way home we saw some Dalls Porpoises in the middle of Haro Strait, though this time they did not seem interested in riding our bow wave. We also stopped off at the Chain Islands and saw a large number of Harbor Seals and Cormorants. It was another thrilling day on the water!
