We had an awesome day with Resident Orcas off San Juan Island to celebrate July 4th today! Our encounter was with members of Jpod mostly and included J2 “Granny”, J34 “Doublestuf”, J28 “Polaris” and her youngster J46 “Star” plus J16 “Slick” and J50 :) The Orcas were mostly foraging (hunting for Salmon) today though we did see some playful activity, especially from the younger members! J50 was being especially Spunky today and was seen breaching several times.
We also got to see a Humpback Whale in the morning and got to see the Humpback tail fluke several times. Apart from the Whales we also got to see Porpoise and Harbor Seals with several brand new Harbor Seal Pups :) What a wonderful way to celebrate July 4th!
