2 Humpback Whales and members of J, K and L Pod!! Oct 1st, 2008.

The 2 year old Humpback calf was being very playful and slapped its tail several times!
What and incredible start to the month of October with not only a Mother and Calf Humpback Whales but members of J, K and Lpod off San Juan Island! Our vessel Supercat was the first vessel to find the two Humpback Whales near Mandarte Island and then the Orcas near Turn Point!

In the afternoon the Humpback Whales had moved towards 10 Mile Point and whilst we watched the Mother and 2 year old Calf, the calf suddenly began slapping its large tail flukes! We then headed off to Stuart Island to catch up with the Resident Orcas that we spread out all across Haro Strait. It was an amazing sight seeing almost 80 whales move through the strait as they foraged for Salmon. We observed numerous breaches, tailslap and a couple of young ones having a 'Whale of a time':)

Lets hope the rest of October is half as good as today!
