Here are just a few pictures from todays incredible Superpod encounter!!! Who says the number 13 is unlucky, this was the first time we had seen the residents for a few days as they had been out of our area:) We caught up with the Southern Resident Orcas west of Hein Bank traveling east and the members of J, K & L pod were stretched over a large area of the Strait. Whilst we watched the Orcas we saw tail slaps, a couple of breaches, spy hops, cart wheels, tail lobs and a lot of interaction;) The Orcas were being very social and vocal as they headed towards the San Juan Islands and we had the fortune to watch a couple of juveniles playing together nearby.
The highlight of the tour was when a group of Lpod Orcas passed by our boat being very social and playful, what a thrill!
Despite the rain and a bit of wind near the end we had a day to remember on the water and it was a great way to celebrate Thanksgiving and Columbus Day:)
