3 Humpbacks Surface together.

It was another wonderful day on the water with calm seas and beautiful weather, though a little brisk, as we set out on our afternoon tour with a vessel full of excited passengers. Not long after we left the harbor we came across three majestic Humpback Whales swimming side by side. We have been so fortunate over the last couple of weeks to have seen these Humpback Whales every day! Whilst we watched these large Baleen Whales we observed some magnificent tail flukes and heard some trumpeting.

Next it was off to Race Rocks MPA to see the countless Harbor Seals and both Steller and California Sealions that frequent this important Marine Reserve. Then as we were leaving the reserve we spotted a dorsal fin of an Orca and soon realized we had the T46 and T49 group of Transient Orcas. We then saw that two of the older females had split off from the main group, which included 2 mothers with their calves, and saw that the 2 females were making a kill probably of a Harbor Seal. The other Orcas soon joined in the feast as did several Seagulls who appeared on scene and picked off remains floating at the surface.

Our passengers were thrilled with the action they had been so fortunate to witness!
