We had calm seas and sunny weather as we ventured out of the Harbor this afternoon with a vessel full (we were completely sold out) of eager passengers and they were not to be disappointed. Not long after we set out we encountered 5 Transient Orcas, the T46's (including a calf T46B2) near Church Rock. As we arrived on scene we witnessed a kill, probably of a Harbor Seal and then a celebration as we observed a couple of youngsters tail slapping, lob tailing, waving their pectoral fins and some dramatic Spy Hops!

Next we headed over to Race Rocks to see the large number of Harbor Seals, Steller and California Sealions at this famous Marine Protected Area. At this time of year the number of Sealions increases dramatically and can reach several hundred.

We then headed out into the Strait of Juan De Fuca to see if we could find any of the Humpback Whales that have been see off Victoria recently. Sure enough we soon found three of these large Baleen Whales and saw some impressive Tail Flukes as the Humpbacks went on deep dives. We also witnessed on Humpback Lunge feeding for krill or small fish. At one stage we got down wind of the Humpbacks and you could smell as well as see these majestic Marine Mammals!

It was yet another perfect day on the water and more like a summers day than early October!
