What an unforgettable day it turned out to be and one of the best of the 2008 season! Not only did we see five Humpback Whales, including a couple of breaches, but near the end of our trip we heard that all the Southern Residents had been sighted off Beechey Head and so we got to see a Superpod!!!

Our tour started out with a tour alongside the shoreline in search of Transient Orcas and Gray Whales. We saw a large number of Harbor Seals and Steller Sealions along the way and even a Bald Eagle. As we headed further west we came across some Dalls Porpoise rooster tailing at high speed. Cpt. Trev took a look with his binoculars and thought he saw something way out west but was not sure. We then headed back East to Race Rocks to look at the Seals and Sealions. A vessel called Ron Bates, MMRG, on the Radio and Ron suggested the vessel head west to check out what Cpt. Trev saw.

Next we ventured a little further East and came across 5 Humpback Whales and as we arrived on scene we saw a number of spectacular Breaches! We also saw a number of impressive tail flukes by these large Baleen Whales.

Then as we were heading home we got a call on the radio that we had all the resident pod, J, K & L pod heading in from the west and so off we headed to encounter the Orcas. When we arrived on scene we soon realized we had a Superpod!!!! What a fantastic surprise and our passengers were delighted at the sight of almost 90 Orcas passing by our vessel:)

Today was just one of those very special days that make this job so incredible!
