Here are a few images from today's adventures with Resident Orcas (the L2 sub pod of L-pod), the Gray Whale and a Humpback Whale! We also encountered a fun group of Dall's Porpoise that played in the bow wave of our boat for a while. At Race Rocks we got to see Harbor Seals and both Stellar & California Sealions:)
The L2's include a female L2 "Grace" (born in 1960), with her offspring L78 "Gaia" (a male born in 1989) and L88 "Wavewalker" (a male born in 1993).
During our tour we had a nice intimate encounter with L78 , when he passed by our vessel a couple of times just over 100yds away! It gave our passengers a real appreciation of the size of these supreme predators.
With calm seas and warm sunny skies (for October) it was another wonderful day to be on the Salish Sea:)
