It has been confirmed that the pictures above and below are in fact of the new L-pod Calf, L116! L116 is the first calf of L82, a female born in 1990, we all wish this little one a long and healthy life!
Here are a few images from this afternoon's encounter with members of L-pod including L82 and her new Calf L116! Today was the first time anyone had seen the new calf, that was only a few days old. The birth is excellent news for the Southern Resdient Orcas and for those of us that follow them every day:)You can learn more about this exciting event at the Center for Whale Research who were also on scene photographing the new calf;
