Wonderful morning encounter! July 15th, 2011
We had a very early 8am private charter with both our vessels this morning and our passengers were very eager to see Orcas. Just before we left the harbour we received a report from one of the local fishing charter boats that Orcas had been spotted out west moving East:)
We had to go through a little bit of fog but finally caught up with the Orcas near Otter Point and soon identified members of L & K-pod, over 60 Orcas! The Orcas included the L2's that had not been seen in our area this season. We also had a wonderful encounter with L55 "Nugget" and her new calf.
The highlight if the trip was a breathtaking encounter with K27 "Deadhead" and her brand new calf K44, that is just a couple of weeks old:)
What a wonderful start to the day!
