Oct 12th 2013 - Afternoon with Transient Orcas and Humpback Whales!
This afternoon we had a fantastic encounter with Transient Orcas (the TO11's) and Humpback Whales! The Transient Orcas had actually been found earlier in the afternoon by one of our naturalists, Kaegan, ,who was driving a dive boat back from Race Rocks and stumbled across the Transients in Pedder bay! Whilst we were on scene with the Transient Orcas we saw them swiftly kill a Harbor Seal! We also witnessed a wonderful spy hop. The TO11 Transient Orcas consists of a Mother TO11 and her son TO11A.
We found the Humpbacks not far from Race Rocks again and they thrilled our guests. Our afternoon also took us to Race Rocks Ecological Reserve to show our guests the Sea Lions, Harbor Seals and Northern Elephant Seals that can be found there in abundance.
