First Confirmed Humpback Whale Sightings of the season!! June 6th, 2008.

The three passengers above first spotted the Humpback Whale.
Despite her hair blowing in her face Naturalist Kirsten was the first person to spot the blows of the Humpbacks:)

Elephant Seals & California Sealions at Race Rocks.

This evening Five Stars vessel, Supercat, encountered the first Humpbacks to be sighted off the Victoria Waterfront of the 2008 season!! A couple of passengers on our front deck first noticed one Whale with a marker buoy being towed behind. Our Captain Scotty, turned the boat around and Naturalist Kirsten was the first to see the blow in the air and both myself and our other Captain, Trev, immediately identified the blows as coming from not one but 2 Humpback Whales:)

So Five Star Whale Watching was the first to find Humpbacks this season. Pictures of these Humpbacks and the Crab Trab marker have been sent to local researcher Ron Bates who has notified John Ford and the DFO.
