The picture above was sent to Five Star by one of our passengers, Ken Warren, great picture Ken! Thanks for sending the picture and for letting us know how much you enjoyed your tour.
K40 "Raggedy"
Above and below are pictures of L79 "Skana" a young male born in 1989. When Male Orcas reach their mid to late teens they get a sudden growth spurt and their dorsal fin begins to grow rapidly. These males are known as "sprouters" and can be identified by their wobbly dorsal fin.
Spyhop.
Our vessel Supercat was the first boat on scene off Lime Kiln Whale Park where our boat encountered a possible Superpod!! Once again with the help of Ron Bates, Five Star Whale Watching found the whales. For most of the tour we were the only boat on scene and then one other boat joined us, days like these are special:)
The Orcas were spread out over about 2 miles with several whales right up by the shore line. Whilst on scene we observed several tail slaps, spyhops and even breaches. Being one of the only boats on scene for our entire trip was a magical experience for all our passengers!

We were on the tour on June 24th and had a great time!!! The naturalist's were super friendly and took us to whales right away and we saw plenty. It surpassed our expectations. The coffee and hot chocolate were a plus! From Bakersfield to you......
