J33 "Keet" male born in 1996.

After leaving Jpod in the Strait of Georgia last night, we were a little uncertain if we would see them today but we soon found out that they had in fact turned south and been sighted of San Juan Islands in the morning:) How fitting that we should enjoy an amazing encounter with Jpod on World Ocean Day!

We first caught up with Jpod moving North along the west coast of San Juan Island. The pod was spread out from north of Eagle Point to Salmon Bank and we observed a lot of high speed porpoising as well as foraging for salmon. We had a nice encounter with one of the young males of Jpod, J33 "Keet" who was born in 1996.

In the afternoon we caught up with Jpod near the ODAS Bouy and they were heading in a south west direction towards Port Angeles. We observed amongst others, J26 "Mike", J27 "Blackberry, J28 "Polaris", J35 "Talequah" and J16 "Slick" with her one year old calf J42. With the sun shining and calmer seas than the previous day, it was the perfect day to be on the water enjoying another memorable encounter with Jpod.
