FRIDAY, JULY 24, 2009, J-POD near Colville Island
A long trip East to Colville Island and up into Rosario Strait rewarded Five Star Whale Watching's passengers with impressive views of J-pod of Southern Resident (Fish-Eating) Killer Whales swimming with powerful strokes in a strong current.
While these photos show the physical beauty and imply these Orcas' power, it is only when you are with them and hear their deep breathes and exhalations and feel the strength of the current against the boat that you can fully appreciate their magnificent evolution into the top predator in the oceans.
