During this mornings tour we had a wonderful encounter with not only members of Lpod but also at least 5 Minke Whales! We first sighted members of Lpod off the west side of San Juan Island and could see various Orcas actively foraging. After watching the Orcas we headed to Hein Bank and found at least 5 Minke Whale and possibly more. We witnessed a lot of Lunge Feeding on Bait Balls and as we sat with our engines off one Minke Whale passed by our boat and it was soon apparent why their nickname is "Stinkey Minke;)
In the afternoon we headed north of Lime Kiln Whale Park and caught up with the members of Lpod from the morning tour who had also been joined by Jpod! We saw a lot of playful activity including tail lobs, spyhops, tailslaps plus foraging.
What better way to spend a perfect summers day than to enjoy the wonders of the Salish Sea!
