More pictures from todays encounters with L-pod! July 26th, 2009.

After several days absence, L-pod returned to the Salish Sea today and swam right past Victoria:) We headed out in the afternoon and caught up with L-pod near Secretary and could see the pod was spread out in hunting mode. Not long after we arrived we observed a male chasing after a Salmon in dramatic style.

As the Orcas were continuing to travel East we decided to leave them and visit Race Rocks MPA (www.racerocks.com) to investigate the abundance of wildlife that can be found at Canada's oldest Marine Protected Area. We were fortunate to see several Harbor Seals and Pups and also a Northern Elephant Seal.

Next we returned to L-pod and this time we could see the pod had changed it behaviour with several members socializing as they continued East.

With another wonderfully warm day it was yet another perfect day on the Salish Sea!
