J-pod plus K21 & K40! June 15th, 2010.
Here are a few images from todays encounter with J-pod plus K21 & K40 off San Juan Island!
Ron Bates, MMRG, received reports early on in the morning that Orcas had been sighted near Spieden Island. Ron continued to track the movements of the Orcas and when we headed out at 2.00pm some Orcas had already reached False Bay, which is where we encountered K21 "Cappuccino" & K40 "Raggedy"!
After watching these two K-pod Orcas for a while we then came across the "Cookie Crew", J22 "Oreo", J32 "Rhapsody", J34 "Doublestuff" and J38 "Cookie", who were having a whale of a time;) We watched a couple of breaches and a stunning cartwheel!
On our way home we stopped at the Chain Islets to show our passengers the numerous Harbor Seals & Seal pups, plus the various Marine Birds.
The sun was out and we had calm seas throughout the trip, it was the perfect day!
