Here are some images from todays encounter with members of L-pod off Victoria waterfront!
We were the first boat out of the harbour this morning and first made our way towards Haro Strait in search of L-pod or J-pod. As we entered Haro Strait we encountered large waves and so our Captain decided to head back west in search of calmer waters. It turned out to be a wise decision because as we came around the North West corner of Trial Island we suddenly spotted a number of Orcas and we soon realized we had found L-pod heading west:)
The Orcas we traveling at over 5 knots and we saw a number of L-pod porpoising (high speed swimming) as they made their way past Victoria! It was an amazing experience and one our passengers will not soon forget:)
We followed L-pod as they made their way past Victoria towards Race Rocks. The Orcas continued to move swiftly east and were last spotted west of Jordon River.
