Lpod off San Juan Island plus 2 Humpback Whales! June 29th, 2013

Today we had a wonderful encounter with Resident Orcas (L-pod) off San Juan Island and also 2 Humpback Whales:)In the morning we encountered the Resident Orcas near Andrew's Bay heading north. Many of the Orcas were traveling closely together as they made their way north. We witnessed a number of tail slaps and one of the females also Spy Hopped close to some kayakers. Earlier we had spent time with a Humpback Whale north of Hein Bank and then on our way home we encountered a second Humpback Whale south of Trial Island:)
In the afternoon the Resident Orcas had traveled south and we encountered them near Eagle Point. We had a nice encounter first of all with the L12's including big boy L41 "Mega". Then we noticed more of L-pod a little further north and off shore so we went to see this group. We witnessed a male Tail Slapping and some juveniles playing around together:)
It was another wonderful encounter with Resident Orcas on a beautiful summers day!
