Transient Orcas and Humpback Whales! July 12th, 2013

This morning we had a wonderful encounter with Transient Orcas and two Humpback Whales a few miles south of Victoria! We first encountered the two Humpback Whales north of Port Angeles. We watched them moving slowly East and then both Humpback Whales sounded (showed their tails as they deep dived), which is always a thrill for our guests. Next we headed over to Race Rocks where we encountered the TO49A's that were right inside the Ecological Reserve hunting for Harbor Seals! We stayed outside the reserve whilst we watched the Transient Orcas hunt and kill at least four times, it was an incredible sight:) Then we watched as a number of Steller Sea Lions appeared in the water, almost taunting the Transient Orcas, which showed no interest in them, probably because of all the Harbor Seals, which are much easier prey to deal with!
