Transient Orcas on Canada Day! July 1st, 2013

Here are a few images from our encounter with Transient Orcas (TO75's and TO72) duing our 10 am tour on Canada Day! Despite some lumpy seas this group of Transient Orcas were discovered near Middle Bank this morning and we soon realized we had the TO75's and a rare visitor, TO72, who has only been seen in BC water three times. The last time he was spotted here was during one of our evening tours a few years ago so it was nice to see him again today. Apart from the Transient Orcas we also saw a Bald Eagle, some Porpoise and a number of Harbor Seals. Due to the high winds and rough seas (5-6 foot seas) we decided to cancel our afternoon tour and it was a good choice as the Transient Orcas were lost in the large seas not long after we returned to Victoria. So instead we enjoyed the wonderful celebrations of Canada's Birthday:)
