Jpod near San Juan Island, July 19th 2007.

The pictures above were taken by Kyla, a Marine Naturalist that spent the last 3 years working at the Whale Research Centre on the San Juan Islands and also in Africa.

I love this picture Jac, great job!

The above 3 pictures were taken by Marine Naturalist Jac. Jac recently spent a number of weeks in the Gulf of Mexico doing research and observation.

The 2 pictures above are of J1 "Ruffles" and were taken by Marine Naturalist Kyla.

Another busy and successful day today as our passengers on all out tours were delighted to observe Jpod near the San Juan Islands. J1 "Ruffles" thrilled our passengers as they watched the largest member of the Southern Resident Pods in amazement. J1's distinctive dorsal fin makes him easy to spot and probably the most photographed Orca in the wild. A female was seen breaching several times in the distance during our tour at 2.00pm which wowed our passengers.
Apart from Ruffles, our passengers also saw J22 "Oreo", her son J34 "Doublestuf", and J11 "Blossom". The day ended with another spectacular west coast sunset.

We were on this trip and am still in awe of the orcas we saw. Of course, our camera battery went low with about 1/2 hour left, which is when the female was seen breaching 5 or 6 times in the distance. I hope you can post the rest of the pictures soon.
