L41 "Mega"

L 41 "Mega"

These three pictures of the little Ducklings and Mom were taken near our boat at Fishermans Wharf. They were feeding on the Kelp that attaches itself to the dock. We sometimes don't even need to leave Victoria Harbor to see some beautiful wildlife.

This Seal came to check out our boat as we were tied up in Victoria Harbor.

Today the Orcas were spread out in various direction in the Salish sea. Part of Lpod was out West near Otter Point, another part of Lpod was sighted near Davidson Rock in Rosario Strait, and yet another part of Lpod was near False Bay. Kpod and Jpod were reported to be in Georgia St in the morning heading south slowly.

At 12.30 we set out on Fastcat and headed to the L's near False Bay and saw L41 "Mega", L25 "Ocean Sun", L77 "Matia" and L94 "Calypso".

Shortly after our arrival we discovered more Orcas were coming down Haro Strait from the North and when we arrived on scene we soon realised we had Kpod. We saw the male K21 "Cappuccino" (born in 1986), K26 "Lobo" (born 1992), K40 "Raggedy" and several other members of Kpod that were spread out over several miles.

Now that Kpod has returned to the Salish Sea we have all three pods in our area and the chances of seeing Whales every day has increased significantly. With the warm weather signalling the arrival of summer, it is producing some excellent trips.
