Gray Whale playing with Kelp!
Here are a few images from our afternoon adventure with a Gray Whale near Discovery Island.
It was quiet blustery on the water this afternoon but that did not prevent us from finding a Gray Whale for our passengers to enjoy viewing. This Gray Whale has now been seen in the area around southern Vancouver Island for over 2 months and in that time we have seen the Whale put on well over a 1000lbs of weight as it continues to find lots of food in the area.
We also had a nice encounter with a young Harbor Seal near Beaumont Shoals this afternoon and saw countless Marine Birds in the water, a good sign that there is a lot of food in the Salish Sea:)
