Aug 2nd. Magnificent morning encounter with J-pod and Gray Whale!
Here are a few images from our magnificent morning encounter with J-pod and Gray Whale!
We had first received reports of Orcas south of Eagle Point in thick fog and that was the direction we were going to take until Ron Bates, MMRG, heard about J1 & J2 with several other members of J-pod being seen moving towards Turn Point in clear conditions.
By the time we arrived on scene J-pod were just coming up to Turn Point and heading into Boundary Pass. J1 came past our boat offshore from the main group that were hugging the shore line. We followed the Orcas into Boundary and then witnessed some spectacular breaches, tail slaps and tail lobbing, it was amazing!!
On our way to the Orcas we had stopped near Victoria Golf Course to look at the Gray Whale.
What a wonderful start to the day:)
