Here are a few images from our morning encounter with a group of Transient Orcas off Sooke!
We received a report early this morning that a group of Orcas had been sighted off Sooke and not long before we arrived on scene we heard that they were Transient Orcas, marine mammal eaters! The Transients were in obvious hunting mode and were doing zig zag patterns across the Strait Of Juan De Fuca trying to locate a pray animal such as a Harbor Seal, Sealion or Porpoise.
After watching the Orcas for a while we took our guests to Race Rocks to show them some of the prey animals for Transient Orcas such as the Northern Elephant Seals, Harbor Seals, California Sealions and Steller Sealions!
