Multiple Transient Orcas & 2 Humpback Whales! Sept 27th, 2012

We had an amazing day on the water with Multiple Transient Orcas  and 2 Humpback Whales!

It was like a T-party out on the water this afternoon with approximately 16 Transient Orcas off Victoria:) The first group we encountered were the T137's a few miles to the south of Constance Bank and they were heading east. The T137's include T137 ( a female born in 1983), T137A (a male born in 2002), T137B (born in 2006) and T137D (born 2012).

As we headed over to the second group of Transient Orcas we also came across two Humpback Whales near Constance Bank. The 2 Humpback Whales were the mother & calf that we have seen in the area over the last couple of months. We did get one wonderful tail fluke by the mother as she headed on a deep dive:)

We caught up with the second large group of Transient Orcas near Trial Island and Ron Bates, MMRG, identified them as the T19's with T18, plus the T36's. These Orcas were moving towards the Chain Islets & Discovery Island, possibly in search of the Harbor Seals that can be found there.

Apart from the Transient Orcas & Humpback Whales we saw Harbor Porpoise and a number of nervous looking Harbor Seals! It was an incredible day on the water with so much wildlife & perfect conditions:)
