Transient Orcas near Swartz Bay! Oct 1st, 2012
We received a report today that Transient Orcas had been spotted near Turn Pt. heading north. Thank fully the Transient Orcas started to travel West towards Swartz Bay, which is where we encountered them this afternoon:) We were so close to Swartz Bay that one of the Ferries actually sailed right past us as we were watching the Transient Orcas!
The Transient Orcas were identified by Ron Bates, MMRG, as the T36's and T49's. As we followed the Orcas they started to change course and travel in a more southerly direction. As they rounded the nearby islands the lighting made for some dramatic photo's as the Orcas came to the surface and ex-haled.
What a wonderful way to start the month of October:)
