This picture shows Mt Baker in the distance and was taken from the stern of Fastcat.

One last pass by L41 "Mega" before we head home.

Our passengers listen intently as Merina plugs in and explains the hydrophone picking up sounds made by the Orcas.

Here our passengers are relaxing and enjoying the beauty of their surroundings.

Our boats attract whale watchers of all ages, could this be a future marine naturalist:)

This young girl was visiting all the way from Mexico and was thrilled to see the Orcas today.

L25 & L94

L25 "Ocean Sun"

We set out on a beautiful day aboard Fastcat at 12.30pm today and headed over to False Bay where we caught up with part of Lpod. The sea was flat calm, it was a warm day and we were the only Whale Watching boat on scene, what more could you ask for:)

Marine Naturalist Merina and I correctly identified L25 "Ocean Sun" (born in 1924), the large male L41 "Mega" (born in 1976 and a personal favourite) plus two of Mega's sisters, L77 "Matia" (born in 1986) and L94 "Calypso" (born in 1995).

It was such a privilege to observe these amazing mammals in their natural environment all by ourselves and on such an incredible summers day. On our way home we had time to stop by the Chain Islands and show our passengers the many Harbor Seals that are sunning themselves on the rocks. It is days like these that make you realize just how fortunate we are to live and work in this pristine marine environment.
