Gray Whale, Humpback Whale and Transient Orcas. Aug 26th 2007.

Today was one of the funniest trips I have ever been on, with a group of Japanese students on board that had an obvious zest for life. Many of the students rode on the bow of our boat throughout the entire trip, even through 4 foot waves! I have never seen such a cheerful group aboard our boat and several times during the journey the group on the bow began singing at the top of their voices. As for the wildlife this morning, a Gray Whale and Humpback Whale were sighted near Crescent Bay and Transient Orcas were reported near Turn Point. We also saw a large number of California and Stellar Seallions at Race Rocks as well as Harbor Seals and Elephant Seals.

In the afternoon our boat headed North West towards the Transient Orcas and picked them up not far from Active Pass. It was the right direction to take as the seas where the Gray Whale and Humpback were sighted earlier had increased dramatically and boats were reporting up to 12 foot swells!!!
