Humpbacks and more, Aug 13th 2007!

Today was another amazing day for watching the incredible Humpback Whales that have been in our area over the last couple of months. At least 7 different Humpback Whales have been identified so far and this includes at least one mother and calf pairing. We have not seen Humpback Whales in these numbers at this time of year for decades and it is a real thrill to see this exciting development. Not only are we seeing more Humpbacks, but the range of behaviour we have been privileged to see has been breathtaking, from lunge feeding to tail waving to several full breaches, it has left all of us speechless and in awe.

Apart from the Humpbacks our passengers have also been seeing several large Elephant Seals at Race Rocks, plus large numbers of Stellar and California Sealions. At both Race Rocks and the Chain Islands our passengers have seen Harbor Seals, many with new pups. Each trip over the last few weeks has just been one spectacular marine adventure after another!
