We set out this afternoon unaware we were about to have one of the best trips of the year! Just West of Race Rocks our adventure began as Cpt. Trev spotted a Humpback Whale. As we were watching the Humpback word came through that a single Transient Orca had been spotted further West and so off we went in search of this supreme predator. We soon found the Transient, which turned out to be T14 "Pender", a very famous lone hunter. Pender was in search of harbor Seals that were hauled out in the area.
Just when we thought the day could not get any better, we received word that the Resident Orcas had been sighted inbound at Sheringham so off we went in search of them. As we arrived on scene we could tell that there was more than one pod in the area as we could see Orcas in all directions spread out over a wide distance. We identified several members of J & Kpod as well as at least 3 members of Lpod, L57 "Faith", L79 "Skana" and L22 "Spirit". It was an incredible thrill for our passengers and one that left everyone on board ecstatic.
On the way home we stopped at Race Rocks and saw a large number of Stellar Sealions, Harbor Seals and a large Elephant Seal.
It was another memorable day on the water!
