Jpod and Lpod! Aug 5th, 2008.

In the morning a our vessels encountered Jpod off the west coast of San Juan Island. It was the start of an incredible day on the water with Orcas all day, flat calm seas and beautiful sunny skies from dawn till dusk! Our afternoon vessel not only spent some incredible time with Jpod, even observing several breaches, but also had an amazing Dalls Porpoise encounter which took the breath away of both the passengers and crew:)

As we set out for our evening tour we heard about a large group of Lpod heading in from the west. We caught up with many of Lpod just 20 minutes after leaving Victoria Harbor, something that does not happen too often. As the Orcas were so close to Victoria we took the opportunity to leave for a while and visit Race Rocks were we saw a number of Stellar Sealions, A Northern Elephant Seal and a large number of Harbor Seals.

We caught up with Lpod again west of San Juan Island and were lucky to see several breaches and tail slaps as the Orcas made their way towards False Bay.

On our way home we were treated to a spectacular Sunset, the perfect end to a perfect day with Five Star Whale Watching!
