Resident Orcas and Transient Orcas! Sept 14th, 2008.

Ron Bates, MMRG, received a report this morning that members of Lpod had been sighted south of Eagle Point. We caught up with the Orcas and realized we had the same Matrilineal group of L's that we had been watching the night before.

As we were watching the L's we heard about more Orcas being sighted near Hein Bank, this time Transient Orcas. As  we arrived on scene we soon realized we had the T30's. T40's and T46's socializing.

During our afternoon tour we caught up with the Transient Orcas once again just 7 miles South East of Race Rocks. Not long after we arrived on scene we saw the Orcas make a kill, later identified as a Harbor Seal.

On our way home we stopped in at Race Rocks to watch the various Pinnipeds including harbor Seals, Steller & California Sealions and Northern Elephant Seals.

September continues to be an awesome month for Whale Watching!
