L-pod & Humpback Whales off Victoria in the afternoon! Sept 16th, 2010
Here are a few images from our stunning afternoon encounter with L-pod & Humpback Whales off Victoria!
We had only been traveling outside of Victoria Harbour for less than 15 minutes when we encountered members of L-pod traveling past Victoria:) It was an amazing sight to see over 40 Orcas swimming across the Strait of Juan De Fuca and we witnessed several tailslaps, breaches and foraging!
Next we went a little further south into the strait and came across the Mother & Calf Humpback Whale that have been hanging out for about a month. Whilst we watched these large Baleen Whales we suddenly saw the Calf make a spectacular Cartwheel:)
We finished the trip at Race Rocks before heading home at the end of another wonderful day on the Salish Sea:)
