Sept 8th morning adventure with J & L-pod and the Gray Whale!
Here are a few images from this morning's adventure with J & L-pod off San Juan Island and the Gray Whale near Discovery Island!
We headed out this morning after Ron Bates, MMRG, received reports that members of J & L-pod had been sighted near False Bay. When we arrived on scene we could see a lot of Orcas in the area, a terrific sight:) At first we observed a great deal of foraging (hunting for Salmon) but as we continued to watch the Orcas we did see several tail slaps and spyhops. We also witnessed a number of breaches including one by a youngster!
On our way home we stopped off near Discovery Island where we encountered the Gray Whale that has been hanging out in the area.
It was a beautiful day to be out on the Salish Sea:)
