8 Humpback Whales, Oct 14th 2007.

We headed out this afternoon in search of up to 8 Humpback Whales that had been sighted in the area and we were in for a great trip!
After briefly checking out the Harbor Seals at Haystack, where we also saw a Bald Eagle, we headed over to Race Rocks. At Race we saw a large amount of California and Stellar Sealions, many of the Stellars were playing in the water. We also saw a Harbor Seal very close to the boat ramp.

We left Race Rocks and headed East in search of the Humpback Whales and soon sighted our first animal. This first Humpback was a relatively young animal and was interacting with a large group of Stellar Sealions. It was incredible to see the Humpback and the Sealions swimming in the water together and see the Sealions circling the body of this Marine Mammal. The Humpback was loudly trumpeting and swishing its tail flukes and pectoral fins in the air and in the water.

After watching this young Humpback for a while we headed over to a couple of larger Humpback Whales and watched this pair make several tail Flukes as they went on deep dives. As we were watching these two Humpbacks we could see other Humpback in the distance in various directions!

October continues to provide spectacular trip and spectacular trip!!!
