What an incredible day to be on the water with Five Star Whale Watching! During todays encounters we saw Transient Orcas in the morning and Superpod (all three Southern Resident Pods) in the afternoon.
Just after leaving the Harbor this morning we received reports of Transient Orcas South East of Race Rocks. We soon identified the Transients as the T40 & T46 group of Orcas. We followed the Orcas for a while and observed a kill. Then we headed over to Race Rocks to observe the Seals, Sealions and a lone Northern Elephant Seal.
In the afternoon we caught up with the entire Southern Resident Orca pods of J,K & L pod (almost 90 whales) who had come in from the west and were passing in front of Victoria. We saw several breaches, tailslaps and spyhops as well as a number of cartwheels, as the Orcas made their way towards the San Juan Islands.
With calm waters and another stunning sunny day, it was perfect conditions for whale watching!

My wife and I were very fortunate to be out whale watching with this party. It was a fantastic afternoon - just like youe see on the television documentaries, but better !!
